Tiny Sailor Fox in Progress

Tiny Sailor Fox

I wanted to stitch something small again. Small doesn't mean quick though, I already spent many hours stitching this tiny Sailor Fox and I'm not finished yet! I'm planning some kind of flowery 'frame' around him as well. Anyway I'm thinking of making more small portraits like these for the shop, which would be a new thing for me as I usually don't sell my embroideries!

Satin Stitch variations

For the &Stitches blog I did some stitching too. These Satin Stitch variations were fun to explore! Read more here.

New pattern: My favourite blanket !

I have a new pattern and I'm thrilled to share it with you all! It's called 'My favourite blanket' and features a small fox all snuggly under his favourite blanket. Actually he has three favourite blankets as the pattern comes with three different versions of the blanket for you to stitch: the Union Jack you see in the photo, a Stars and Stripes (American flag) version and a Folksy pattern. Three patterns in one for only $4.50! * In this 6 page pattern details about stitches and colours are included for de UJ version as well as stitch ideas and suggestions for the US and Folksy patterns.

You can purchase the pattern in the Follow the White Bunny shop where you can download it immediately after purchase (yay!) or alternatively in my Etsy shop.

He would wave, if he could

Mr. Fox just wants to say 'hi'... He would wave, if he could but he still has no limbs sewn to his body so waving is kind of difficult right now. But he's hopeful because 2011 seems to be the year that I'm trying to actually finish some of my projects! Yesterday I finished my blocks for last years Fat Quarterly's Quilt along. (not pictured here) I had quite few 2.5 inch squares left though and some yummy scrap fabrics I got in my recent scrap swaps & buys. There was quite a lot of yellow/purple/pink/orange in those surprise packages so I went with that colour scheme and just started sewing. I made these two blocks.

I'm so happy with how they turned out that I can live with the feelings of guilt of starting yet another project!

More fur stitching

Today I did some more work on my upcoming Sleeping fox pattern. The stitching is easy, the explaining of how to embroider furs 'Follow the White Bunny style' is definitely the hardest part. The way I stitch these furs is very random (but then again it's purposefully random) and I'm probably breaking a couple of embroidery 'rules' too along the way. ;)  Because I'm also working on a couple of other projects, including the very exciting secret project,  it's going to be a little while before the pattern is in the shop. Right now I'm aiming at the last week of May.

Embroidery Basket.

For my birthday my brother and his wife gave me this rather large rubber basket made of recycled tires. Most people would probably use it to keep wood for the fireplace or to store magazines in, but within a day this became my Embroidery Basket. Despite it's size, it's not big enough to keep all my embroidery stuff in. For now it's just the WIP's and some embroidery books.

You can also spot my new pattern which I started to embroider this morning. It's based on the Fox I embroidered for the embroidery swap I'm in, but it's not exactly the same design. More to be revealed soon! :)
