Sunday stash # 15 Ribbons & trims

Here are a few ribbons from my stash. Among them are the ribbons I bought last week when I was in the tiny store in Amsterdam with the huge collection of trims, tassels etc. I also received a couple of extremely cute ribbons in swaps. I rarely use ribbons when I sew. Partly because I'm not sure what to do with them and also because I find it hard to part with some of them and would rather keep them safely in their glass jars. :)
What do you use your ribbons and trims for?

  1. These are all so cute, Nicole! I really love the Red Riding Hood trims. I fall easily to fairytale themes, you know. ;)

I need to create a ribbon and trim collection. I think I would mostly use them for dolls. Much like I used the black lace trim for the first Black Apple doll I made.

  2. Did you buy the windmill ones in Amsterdam? I bought the same exact blue one! I also bought a slim red windmill ribbon.

So far I have only used ribbons to make taggie blankies for my son and other babies. I LOVE the fairytale ribbons tho.

  3. The Little Red Riding Hood is one that is so dear to me that I've been saving it for a special project. Maybe a bag or something I would use often.
@Kigwit I just might have bought that windmill one in the very same shop one and a half year ago (I visited then, forgot where it was and came across it by accident last week ) but I think it's available at several places in the Netherlands.

  4. I tend to let my ribbons age. I like to look at them too.
I plan to make a skirt for my daughter and put ribbon around the hem.

  5. I love the look of these! I am thinking that they could be used on the simple zippered case in BTR. They would also be nice on a cushion for a doll's bed, and you would be able to use small amounts on such items.

  6. I have barely used a ribbon yet, they just sit there looking pretty in the jar. Why would I ruin them by cutting them?? I love yours, especially the ones on the right.
