Japanese cute: quilt label
Remember the quilt top I made a couple of weeks ago? Well I need to finish it within the next two weeks so it was time I started on the quilt label. I chose a cute design from one of the Japanese Embroidery Books I have. I changed the design a bit, made it a bit larger and added a date. Rather than stitching the Quilt label on the back of the quilt I'm going to make it a part of the quilt backing.
I think a warning is in place now: if you like photos of pretty embroidery stitches LOOK AWAY NOW! Because me and the Cable Chain Stitch didn't get along very well. I even ended up stitching my sampler piece to my skirt, not on purpose I might add. It's one of those stitches for which you ideally have the use of three hands not two!

that's so funny, Nicole! You made me laugh a lot with that!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a cute label and is going to look fantastic on that gorgeous quilt ;-)
lol. Silly girl. I think it's kewl that you're trying all these stitches. I'm still experimenting with the bullion stitch. (I'm pretty sure I'm spelling that wrong)
ReplyDeleteoh, stitching your piece to your skirt is so cute! I did that once. It was upsetting at the time, but now it's a fond memory and a cute story!
ReplyDeleteHappy Stitching!
Love the label, and love that someone else does funny things... my worst experience was sewing a zip into the hem of a skirt and wondering why I couldn't get my legs through!!
ReplyDeleteI probably should have posted a photo of the sampler attached to my skirt but I wasn't so amused at the time!
ReplyDelete@Missi mu I wonder what kind of skirt you were sewing to be able to sew the zip in the hem and not notice until you have finished sewing!
Oh- that is funny about the skirt! Maybe you would like the look here better with shorter ovals? Interesting to see what the longer ovals look like- not so bad, you know :)
ReplyDeleteWhat stitch is that colorful one? Its pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's called a loop stitch (or centipede stitch) :) http://blog.followthewhitebunny.com/2010/11/sorting-scraps-loop-stitch.html
