Hung out to dry

Yes I left my skating hedgie & girl on the washing line to dry, to get rid of a few marks that were annoying me. Hopefully I will be able to finish the embroidery later today, there are still lots and lots of french knots to be added and a moon too!

I started embroidering the skating duo quite a while ago. I got a bit carried away and used lots of fill stitches, they looked o.k.and sometimes even more than o.k. but I think the main thing that was bothering me was the natural/beige coloured fabric I was stitching on. It just didn't have that crisp ice-y look I was looking for. So I started again this time using Kona Cotton Solid Pearl Pink. And instead of lots of fill stitches I mainly used outline (back) stitches on this version. Much better! This cute skating couple will most likely be in the shop later this week... :)

  2. Thanks Beth, it's actually quite a lot of washing line because it continues on the right! I love colourful clothespins, they make doing the laundry just a bit of a happier experience.

  4. How do you wash your embroideries?
I have tried to get marks out before with limited success!

  5. @Georgia. Not even a hint of Latoya either!
@Amelieandatticus I usually just rinse them in water. I had transferred this one first with an inadequate transfer pencil and then with a normal grey pencil. One of those didn't quite wash out so well even after adding a little washing powder. Maybe I should go back using my disappearing marker. (the ink disappears when you put water on it,not the marker :D)

  6. Nicole it's looking so cute. I love your hedgehogs, their gorgeous!
Do you use Collin's "The Fine Line" water soluble pens? They're my favourite transfer pen because of their fine point. They disappear well with a little water and a paint brush.

  7. Thanks heaps!! I really need to invest in a disappearing marker! I have been using pencil which only seems to work if I make NO mistakes!
