Fish & Anchor now available as pattern!

A few weeks ago I received an email from someone who asked me whether the Fish & Anchor design I made last year was available as pattern. Uhmmm...no, but I could see why this would make a lovely pattern for someone who likes making tiny stitches on an intricate design! With much enthusiasm I started on the pattern but unfortunately caught the flu. After a week of hiding under quilts on the couch, I finally was able to continue my work on the pattern. So with a bit of delay I can now present you the Fish & Anchor pattern! It's really great for creative stitching and features stitches such as the raised fishbone stitch (a personal favourite) and the spiderweb stitch.

Fowl Talk. A New Pattern!

I've been pretty busy designing, stitching a writing this new pattern. It's called 'Fowl Talk' and it's inspired by Shakespearean insults and grumpy birds. It combines a few of my favourite things: owls, flowers, quotes and literature. With a bit of 16th century swearing thrown in for good measure. "I'll tickle your catastrophe' sounds so much better than 'I'll kick your posterior",  doesn't it? And the addition of flowers make it almost a friendly message as well! A great gift for unsuspecting family members or colleagues. :D

Included in the pattern is a stitch and colour key. The stitches used are pretty basic so it isn't a complicated or slow pattern to make. The Fowl Talk pattern is only available as PDF in my Etsy store for now. You may remember that I stopped selling PDF's since the beginning of this year. This was partly due to complications with new European VAT legislation and I also wanted to do more with my embroidery than 'just' making patterns. A lot of my time in the first half of 2015 went into getting some of my patterns printed (a lengthy process) and writing the Simply Shading workshop (of which I'm very proud). And I was, and am still exploring new paths with my embroidery. But I do miss releasing a pattern every now and then and regularly I get requests for PDF versions of my other patterns, so I though I'd give the PDF a whirl again. See how it goes.

Meet the Most Excellent Party Bear

I'm hoping to have this Most Excellent Party Bear PDF embroidery pattern in the shop later this week but I thought I'd let you all have a peek already. This Bear is a perfect guest to any party as he always brings his very special balloons. More often than not he is called the Always late to the Party Bear behind his back though because arriving on time is not his strongest point. There's always balloons that need to be filled, a pantry with honey-pots to organize, apple pie to be baked etc etc.  Most Excellent Party Bear will be available for a special introduction price in the first week after the pattern is released.

Blossom Tree Pattern is here!

My new pattern Blossom Tree Nursery Wall Hanging is finished and in the shop! This 10 page PDF pattern has a stitch and colour key (and tips for stitching furry creatures!) as well as instructions on how to make a sweet quilted wall hanging with your embroidery. Some (not a lot) sewing/quilting experience would be helpful with that though.

Blossom Tree for the Nursery

I'm hoping to introduce this new nursery friendly pattern called Blossom Tree into the shop in a few days time. Initially I designed it for a project that was cancelled but thought it too cute to leave it in the drawer. I made a quilt/wall hanging with my version and I will also include sewing instructions for that in the pattern. As my assignment was to make a design for a girl the colours are a bit girly but I can see this work with greens and blues (or purple) as well!

New pattern and a special offer!

Phew, it was hard work but I managed to finish my Fly me to the moon embroidery pattern! It not only includes a charming tap dancing Polar Bear called Fred (more about Fred later) but also the rather neat lettering I designed to go with the 'main' pattern.

New pattern: My favourite blanket !

I have a new pattern and I'm thrilled to share it with you all! It's called 'My favourite blanket' and features a small fox all snuggly under his favourite blanket. Abel the Stitch Explorer pattern is here!

Finally finished with the Abel the Stitch Explorer pattern (aka Abel the Balloon flying Mouse)! It was a bit of a struggle in the last few days to sort out all the details. I had to get used to using new programs on my computer and that's not exactly my greatest talent. But we got there in the end...Abel and me.

As you can probably tell from the photo(s) it's a sampler pattern. I have included all the details about colours (more than 30!) and different stitches (about 15) in the pattern PDF (as I always do, at least the last two years or so) but to be honest I would much rather see people do their own thing with this pattern, try out and learn stitches and come up with amazing colour schemes. Abel is especially fond of the not often used stitches or even stitches unknown to man (and mouse)kind!

Meet Abel the Balloon Flying Mouse

Besides my work for the second issue of &Stitches (it's out on the 17th of April, yay!) I have been busy with a new pattern. It's a big one and I'm now working on the last couple of details. I have gone a bit crazy with this pattern: I used about 25 different floss colours and lots of different stitches. All will be specified in the pattern of course. Do you like my little adventurous rodent? I think I will name him Abel, after a famous Dutch explorer. I hope to have the pattern available sometime in the next two weeks.  :)

Walking the Globe...New Pattern is here!

Woohoo! I'm not sure how I did it, but I managed to get my new pattern in the shop just now.  I had a hard time deciding on a title for this pattern. "What makes the world turn?" or "Up in the air" were options but in the end I settled for "Walking the Globe".  Today I found out that that is how you call balancing/walking on those big Circus Balls. Anyway if you feeling like stitching this sweet pattern yourself you can find the pattern here. 

New Sailing Polar Bear Pattern!

My new pattern is here and I'm so excited about it! As with all my newer patterns it has a colour and stitch guide( but  I'm sure you all will do a great job at doing your 'own thing' with this pattern) and you can buy your own downloadable copy here for only $3.75!  I also have adjusted (slightly lowered!) the prices on some of my other patterns in my new shop so you might want to check those out too!  Hope to 'see' you there soon. :)  Prices in my Etsy shop will be adjusted later this week.

Bunny proudly presents...Tales from the Forest

Me, bear and squirrel go back a long long time. In 2009 I made this small water colour painting.

 I sent the original to Bookwormbethie but could not really say goodbye to these two just yet. I made a few changes to the design, the tea cup went, leaves were added etc and I took a long long time stitching the final version of this pattern. Not exactly sure how to go about it. But now it's finished and I have my own Bear and Squirrel and I'm keeping them with me this time! But if you fancy having these two hanging out with you as well get the pattern now!

Tales from the forest

I just finished this new design called 'Tales of the Forest'. It's still a tiny bit wrinkly from the wash and dry and (too) quick ironing I did but I couldn't wait to share it with you all. I think it would be great just as wall art or as a center piece on a pillow or something. Still busy writing up all the details and making a few adjustments on the drawing of the pattern. Are you wondering too what tale the squirrel is telling here?

Royalty on my Doormat! (& Embroidery Stitch Challenge #6)

Last a week I finally got to meet the Castle Peeps 'in person' as the Royal Sampler Patterns and Limelight Bard Mini Quilt Patterns arrived at my house. I'm absolutely smitten with how stylish and pretty the patterns turned out! The patterns hold a colour key, an example of the finished embroidery, an iron-on pattern and a large sheet with details about colours and stitch suggestions.

The Limelight Bard Mini Quilt also has instructions on how to make the mini quilt of course. I will list both patterns later this week in my shop but I will have only a couple of each in stock for now!

For this week's Embroidery Stitch Challenge I just picked a stitch that I didn't know from one of my books: the Loop Stitch.

Colourful leaves and Embroidery Stitch Challenge #3

Remember the Bear and Squirrel embroidery I was working on? I started fill stitching the Big Bear's fur and I just didn't like the way it looked. Sometimes things don't turn out the way you had imagined I guess. And if you have spend hours and hours stitching it's hard to make the decision to stop and start over. But I did and I'm very pleased with the result so far. On the picture above you can see a bit of the New Bear. :) I love how well the soft shade of pink on the linen works with the dark brown colour of the Bear and the intense colours of the leaves.

Luna made some colourful leaves too this week! It's Fall Break and she loved this craft activity. First we went out to find some leaves, she painted them and then used them as stamps. After that I cut a couple of Halloween themed shapes (a Witches hat, a pumpkin etc) from a bit of cardboard and she used those as stamps as well. We are planning to make a Fall/Halloween themed banner with these. :)

Moving on to the Embroidery Stitch Challenge #3: the Chevron Stitch. I only have a vague notion of what the Chevron Stitch is and I will certainly need to look it up before I started trying it this weekend. It would be fun if you could join me! Bear & Fish in the shop & peeps too and a tiny purchase

I can't believe it almost took me 2 months to finish this pattern. But I do think it was worth it. It's turned out so wonderfully odd and cute!  The original plan was a three piece pattern set, but I decided to just go with Bear & Fish for now and throw in a cute little 'shell' key pattern as an encore. I have also improved the lay out of the pattern and the colour and stitch guide. The picture does not do it justice, my printer ran out of several colours of ink during the printing process. Anyway if you'd like you can purchase the Bear & Fish pattern here.

Also available (but not yet in my store) are the two Castle Peeps Embroidery Patterns that I made with Lizzy House. Both these patterns and Lizzy's Castle Peeps Quilt Patterns are available in her shop.

Bear on Tee

I had the pattern (one of my new upcoming patterns) near my ironing board and Luna's white t-shirt as well and this morning I could not resist to combine the two. Luna especially loves the fluffy fringe on the Bear's scarf!
