Sunday morning stitching: one small canvas shoe

Usually I write the names of my children on the inside of their PE shoes with a sharpie but this is much prettier isn't it? It was a bit tough embroidering on the canvas especially since it's such a tiny size. I made knotless starts so she will not be bothered by knots on the inside of the shoe and improvised the embroidery 'design' (as is clearly visible) but I guess a water soluble marker would also work fine if you would want to draw the design first.

On the Embroidery Stitch Challenge menu today is the Cable Chain Stitch. Will report back in a few days time if it was a success!

    So cute! I immediately thought of Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) and how she often sleep-walks at night, so she wears her shoes to bed. =)

    Those are adorable, Nicole! The pink shoes are cute anyway, but the embroidery definitely notches up the cute factor =).

    Way better than sharpie on the inside! This is so cute and so creative. I never would have thought to do this to a shoe. Adorable! : )

    @Bellakarma I can imagine these would remind you of Luna Lovegood! Especially with the moon and star embroidered on it. :)
    @Adrianne I can't take credit for this idea. I saw a photo of Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching embroidering a pair of Converse All Stars last year. I was actually embroidering something else this morning but these little PE shoes needed a little extra cuteness (and a name).

    Cable chain (and knotted cable chain) are wonderful stitches- good choice!
    Alphabet Girl is done now, but wet, and waiting to dry for Flickr :)
