Pattern Parade: Ofelia Owl Pattern Giveaway

Throughout November I'll be giving away some cute prizes on the Follow the White Bunny Blog! Recently I discovered that I would be writing my 500th post here on this blog some time in November and I thought it would be fun to do some giveaways to celebrate. In the next couple of weeks I'll be giving a way patterns I love, donated by some lovely crafty folk I know.

First up in the 'Pattern Parade' is the Ofelia Owl PDF Embroidery Pattern by my friend Paloma of Three Kitchen Fairies! Paloma quilts, sews and embroiders. On her blog you will regularly find new sewing and quilting tutorials so be sure to visit it often. Ofelia Owl and other lovely patterns are available in Paloma's Etsy shop.

So...what do you do to have a chance to win this fabulous pattern? Simply leave a comment and share something nice with me: something about this blog, a book recommendation, a background story on Ofelia Owl, your favourite floss colour, anything will do as long as it's nice. I'm also curious for how long you have been following my crafty adventures here on the blog. I doesn't get you extra points though haha. Don't forget to leave a 'trail' so Ofelia Owl can find her way to your mailbox. Giveaway ends Tuesday the 6th of November 12 noon (I always, always mix my AM's and PM's up when I write giveaway posts ) Central European Time.  Give away is closed winner will be announced later today!

Good luck everyone!

  1. I've been following you for a LONG time. I can't remember when I started....
I also know Paloma. We were in a quilt guild together for a short time before she moved away... I LOVE that owl. My niece is an owl freak. She would LOVE this.

  2. Ofelia is such a cute owl, I would love to stitch her!

My favorite floss color is 791 because it's Tardis blue. But! I also love 730 & 731 because they're yellowish greens and remind me most of early spring buds. :)

  5. (I'm reposting because I forgot to leave my address the first time! It's duckythorn at gmail dot com.)

I've been following you for about a year and a half, or so. I discovered you shortly after I discovered that I loved embroidery, and began looking for patterns. As for the "something nice," I can tell you that I started embroidering when my father was dying, and I found it to be of great help. When he died, we left the hospital and went to a craft store on the way home. We bought flosses and textiles because I was basically ruined, and embroidery brought me solace. It has made such a difference for me, and I truly love it - not just doing it, but also appreciating other people's work. I'm very thankful.

  6. I don't have a favourite floss colour so would a favourite owl do instead? It is difficult to choose - maybe an Eagle Owl or a Long-eared Owl, but I think my favourite is a Snowy Owl for their amazing feathery feet!

  7. What a cute pattern! I've been following you for AGES and I love what you do. I'll suggest a book, for something a little different: The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak. A very good read.

  9. I love your blog and this owl is just beautiful. I love her blue eyes. Stitching is one of my favorite things to do - and reading about stitching. lol! Hugs from NY!

  10. Your patterns made me start back up with embroidery! What fun it is. I learned how to do embroidery in Girls Scouts a LONG time ago! Thanks to you, I started back up again. My daughter LOVES owls and this would be a nice gift for her dorm room... something made by mama! katehill2003 at hotmail

  12. Congratulations on your upcoming 500th post! I can't imagine all the hard work and dedication it takes to keep a blog fresh and ongoing. I've only been reading blogs for alittle over a year so I'm not quite sure when I started. I just started the coloring and embroidery BOM project called The Gardner's Alohabet". The quilt is beautiful and the thread in the kit is Cosmo, yummy!

Thank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

  13. I am not sure how long I have been following your blog, since sometime this year. I visited your shop and love Pindsvin and Abel and the little girl on the matresses. Your designs are fun and would be fun to make for my grandchildren. The Ofelia the Owl design is wonderful too!

  14. OK - evil cackle here - my daughter says if she has one more owl, she might be considered eccentric. I NNED this so I can make her eccentric!!!

  15. Hi, Nicole! I'm not going to take part in the giveaway, because I'm used to making toys rather than stiching, but I used to embroider some time ago and still enjoy someone going it well. That's why I'm here. I like your blog! That's what I wanted to tell you! :D
    Hugs from Russia!

  20. Nicole, I just finished a book I couldn't put down! Check out "The Time in Between" by Maria Duenas. It is part spy thriller part romance and the main character is a dressmaker. It takes place during the Spanish civil war and WWII. It was a pretty good read! BTW Ofelia is adorable, I love her name. :-)

  21. Congratulations on the 500 posts and I know I have read alot of them - following for a few years. I love your designs and adore this cute owl too. I am reading the 4th in the mystery series by Alan Bradley - the first was Sweetness at the Bottom of the pie. A fun mystery series. Thank you!

  22. Something nice for you is how you got me to embroider after too many years away. Yes, you and Imagine Gnats hooked me with your sweetness and skill.

Your blog is one of my must reads.

    Congrats on 500 posts. That's wonderful. :D

  23. Hi! My something nice would be to say that I STILL LOVE the Ed Gorey embroidery you did for me, and I smile every time I walk past it (it hangs in my hallway). I think I've followed you for around two years...? I can't remember, honestly!

  26. I just found this blog looking for cute owl stuff lol I love owls because I'm american but started dating a canadian and we have this running joke between us that he sounds like an owl with all his hooty 'owlspeak' Anyways, we decided to decorate our computer room in owls when we move in together and I've already stitched an owl picture that I turned into an anniversary record for us, I think this would compliment it nicely. ;)

  28. I just finished reading Anne Tyler's The Beginner's Goodbye. It's a quick read. I've read all of her books and loved them all.

I started reading blogs in 2009, when I was overseas for 5 months and needed something to keep me attached to stitchers. I don't know when I stumbled onto yours, but I've been a follower ever since. Thanks for the inspiration.

  29. What a cute owl :D Congrats on the almost-500! It's a lot of posts, isn't it? I haven't been following that long - I think I started following because of the Gorey thing, but I can't quite remember because I know I'd been to your site before that anyway.

Something nice? Tomorrow I'm flying back to where I'm from to go visit my Grandma, who is in her mid-90s. I'm bringing along a bit of embroidery I've finished to get her help in appliquéing it to a cushion top because I'm afraid of ruining it, and even though her eyesight isn't great anymore, she still does beautiful handwork. (Well, it's nice for me, anyway :D)

  30. This is so lovely Nicole! The pretty flower garland is the perfect frame for Ms Owl.

I started following you after the Fat Quarterly Retreat - I would love to see our Iron Man quilt all finished - did Linda finish it? I can't remember now.
